AirAsia honoured at 6th Asean Business Awards event

AirAsia Bhd has been awarded the “Priority Integration Sector Award in Aviation”, at the sixth Asean Business Awards event in Malaysia, in recognition of its performance and achievements in the aviation sector.

Executive Chairman of AirAsia Bhd and Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said the low-cost carrier is proud that Malaysia is chairing Asean this year, and as a “Truly Asean” airline, the group will continue supporting the initiatives Malaysia is taking, to achieve the goals set during its chairmanship.

The Priority Integration Sector Excellence Awards are presented to limited corporations with outstanding performance, and presence in the Asean Economic Community (AEC) Priority Integration Sectors.

Awardees are evaluated in any of the 11 priority sectors – logistics, ICT, automotive, electronics, fisheries, healthcare, textiles and tourism as well as agro-, rubber- and wood-based products.

AirAsia serves all 10 Asean countries with a total of 160 routes, 49 of which, such as Johor Baharu–Bandung, Lombok, Jakarta–Phuket and Penang–Surabaya, are unique to the airline. – Bernama, April 26, 2015.
