Maybank’s Farid named CEO of The Year

Kuala Lumpur: Malayan Banking Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Farid Alias was named CEO of The Year in the Asean Business Awards (ABA) 2015, which recognises outstanding enterprises in the Asean business community.

Farid, appointed group president and CEO of Maybank Group in August 2013, was awarded for his management and business strategy skills.

Another prestigious ABA award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, went to Royal Selangor’s Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon.

The AEC Priority Integration Sector Excellence for e-Asean went to Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim of Axiata Group Bhd.

The ABA, which also recognises contributions from small and medium enterprises, saw 17 winners receiving their awards from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who launched the event yesterday.

The winners will represent Malaysia at the overall Asean Business Awards in November.

The Asean Business Awards Malaysia 2015 is an annual programme of the Asean Business Advisory Council to showcase local outstanding businesses and individuals.

Winners were evaluated and judged under four core categories, namely, growth, employment, innovation and corporate social responsibility.

It was held in conjuction with the 26th Asean Summit.
