ASEAN-BAC Malaysia launched the ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Circle (ABMC), a platform for regional Malaysian companies to actively support ASEAN integration and help in Malaysia’s preparations for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
The launch was led by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry His Excellency Senator Tengku Zafrul who emphasised the private sector’s role as a co-creator of prosperity and development and stressed the importance of public-private sector collaboration in Malaysia to capture ASEAN’s growth opportunities.
The minister also said that in preparation for Malaysia’s impending ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, his ministry’s Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) should focus on advancing the country’s interest as well as regional efforts to establish ASEAN as an integrated single market.
ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Chairman Tan Sri Nazir Razak, for his part, urged the Malaysian private sector to step up and play its part as the country prepares to lead the ASEAN Community, as doing so would create a more conducive regional business environment which could also benefit Malaysian companies tremendously.
ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Council Members Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Mr Lim Chern Yuan attended the event, as well as ABMC members and representatives from AirAsia, Aerodyne, Carsome, CIMB Group, Creador, Genting, Ikhlas Capital, Khazanah Nasional, Kuala Lumpur Kepong (KLK), MyEG, RHL Ventures, Sime Darby Plantation, Silverlake Group, Yinson Holdings, YTL Corporation, and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM).
