Appreciation Lunch with Hosting Companies of BCI Agriculture Visit, 23 May 2024

ASEAN-BAC Malaysia gathered with Sime Darby Plantation, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, Aerodyne Group and CIMB for an appreciation lunch, thanking the members who had hosted delegations from the Philippines in a recent agriculture visit. This gathering was invaluable for receiving feedback on the site visits and discussing the next steps to enhance B2B project facilitation in the agriculture sector between Malaysia and other ASEAN member states.

Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Chair of the B2B Connect Initiative (BCI) for Agriculture and Jukhee Hong, Executive Director, emphasised the need for tailored approaches to business synergies in ASEAN. Participants pointed out that different ASEAN member states face varied comparative advantages in agricultural production, whether upstream or downstream. This nuanced understanding is crucial for developing effective strategies that leverage each country’s strengths, fostering a more integrated and productive agricultural sector within the region.
