Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit 2024
ASEAN-BAC Malaysia is honoured to have been invited to speak at the 11th Australasian Emission Reduction (AER) Summit held in Melbourne on 29th October. Representing at the first plenary on ‘Net Zero Geopolitics, Pathways and Investments’, Executive Director of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, Ms. Jukhee Hong emphasised on the great convergence that has taken place amongst policymakers, governments, regulators, and the private sector – led by large corporates and followed closely by small businesses – in the response to climate change.
Highlighting on ASEAN’s proactive approach through the formulation of many high-level and broad-based climate-related initiatives over the years, including the ASEAN Strategy for Carbon Neutrality (ASCN), Jukhee spoke on how ASEAN-BAC Malaysia chairs and leads private sector initiatives, where together with national stock exchange, Bursa Malaysia, the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework (ACCF) was designed and rolled out to address both the supply and demand of carbon credits within the ASEAN region, by operationalising the ASCN through the private sector to advance key strategies on Interoperable Carbon Markets and establishing Credible and Common Standards for a sustainable future.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Carbon Market Institute (CMI) for hosting the summit, as well as to our moderator, Emma Alberici, Principal Consultant at Derwent, and our fellow panelists for an insightful discussion: i) Alden Meyer, Senior Associate at E3G and Former Director of Strategy and Policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists; ii) Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Co-President of The Club of Rome and Co-Founder of the Systems Transformation Hub EU; iii) The Hon.
