Welcome Reception featuring “A taste of Penang Street Food”

On 15th January 2025, we proudly hosted the Welcome Reception: A Taste of Penang Street Food, the inaugural event of our chairmanship year. Held in George Town of Penang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this memorable evening welcomed the ASEAN-BAC Council members, representatives from the Joint Business Councils (JBC), members of the ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Circle (ABMC), and business leaders from the region, marking a meaningful start to our journey in advancing the goals of the ASEAN business community under our Chairmanship.

Guests were treated to a delightful array of authentic Penang street food, reminiscent of a bustling hawker stall. The vibrant atmosphere was filled with the tantalising aromas of char kway teow, a stir-fried noodle dish with smoky wok hei, nasi lemak, fragrant coconut rice with spicy sambal, and cendol, a refreshing dessert of shaved ice, coconut milk, and pandan jelly. These iconic dishes, enjoyed amidst the lively chatter and cultural exchange, perfectly captured the essence of Penang’s vibrant culinary scene and provided a truly memorable experience for all attendees.
