United Kingdom and Eire Council (UKEC) Townhall Session with Chairman Tan Sri Nazir Razak

ASEAN-BAC Malaysia recently partnered with the United Kingdom and Eire Council (UKEC) in a townhall session with Malaysian students in London, aimed at fostering dialogue on ASEAN’s future. Young talents are key to ASEAN’s economic integration therefore we believe that it is crucial to engage them as part of ASEAN-BAC’s roadshow to the UK. The event featured Chairman, Tan Sri Nazir Razak, who shared his perspectives on strengthening regional collaboration and addressing key challenges facing ASEAN.
In his speech, Tan Sri Nazir emphasised the need for practical strategies to bring ASEAN countries closer together, rather than pursuing overly ambitious goals like a single ASEAN economy. He proposed initiatives such as facilitating talent mobility across the region and creating an ASEAN Business Entity (ABE) to enhance competitiveness while respecting the individuality of member nations. He also highlighted the importance of sustainability and inclusivity, praising Malaysia’s success in fostering diversity but urging ASEAN to adopt a more unified approach to sustainability challenges. The session reflected ASEAN-BAC Malaysia’s commitment to driving meaningful discussions on regional growth and cooperation.
