Smart PV Technology Workshop – ASEAN Business Environment 2025

Executive Director Jukhee Hong gave opening remarks at the Smart PC Technology Workshop, focusing on the ASEAN Business Environment 2025, held in Shenzhen, China, this week. The event, organised by Huawei Digital Power, brought together industry leaders, policy experts, and key stakeholders from across Southeast Asia to discuss critical issues and advancements in technology that support the development of sustainable, reliable, and low-carbon energy systems across interconnected grids in the region.
In her address, Jukhee highlighted ASEAN’s commitment to sustainability, referencing Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme of “Sustainability and Inclusivity” and the upcoming ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2025–2030, which is expected to be endorsed this year. She stressed the critical role of the energy transition in meeting the Paris Agreement targets, highlighting the need for cross-border alignment, grid harmonisation, and the integration of renewable energy into interconnected grids.
As part of its intention to lead efforts in advancing the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) during its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, Malaysia is prioritising this key initiative aimed at enhancing energy security, accessibility, and affordability across the region. The APG seeks to improve energy exchange among member states, addressing challenges such as surplus power that cannot currently be exported due to regulatory and infrastructure barriers, while supporting the region’s transition to a low-carbon future.
