Temasek Urges Stronger Governance To Draw Global Capital Into ASEAN

Temasek Holdings Chief Executive Officer Dilhan Pillay has called on Southeast Asian nations to strengthen enforcement of investor rights and corporate governance to attract more global capital and deepen the region’s private credit market.

Speaking at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Bloomberg reported that Pillay said good governance and credible enforcement are crucial to building investor confidence, both foreign and domestic.

“If you want to get capital into the market and see the same success as in the US, where companies can remain private for longer, governance is the most important thing because it gives confidence to investors to come in, and to domestic capital to stay in the market,” he said.
