The 55th ASEAN Economic Minister (AEM) – ASEAN-BAC Meeting, 19 August
ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Chair Tan Sri Nazir Razak made policy recommendations to improve talent mobility, cross-border investment and trade facilitation in ASEAN at the recent ASEAN Economic Ministers-ASEAN BAC Consultation at the 55th ASEAN Economic Minister (AEM) Meetings held in Semarang, Indonesia.
Malaysia is presented by Yang Berhormat Mulia Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). The meeting was also attended by other ASEAN-BAC chapters and the Executive Director of ASEAN-BAC
Malaysia, Ms Jukhee Hong.
In his remarks, Tan Sri Nazir highlighted the common themes from the series of consultations conducted by ASEAN-BAC Malaysia with various active investment companies and industry groups, which have brought to light many operational pain points in both trade and investment, namely the lack of meaningful intra-ASEAN, restricted movement of people and capital; unnecessary frictions in cross-border trade.
