Malaysia Carbon Market Association (MCMA) Launch
ASEAN-BAC Malaysia rolled out its first priority deliverable – MCMA led by Yinson and in partnership with Bursa Malaysia ahead of its chairmanship in 2025
The Malaysia Carbon Market Association (MCMA) was officially launched today as part of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia’s priorities 2025. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the MCMA is a non-profit organisation focused on advancing carbon market projects with an aim to establish the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework (ACCF).
Chairman of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Tan Sri Nazir Razak said “I am pleased that ASEAN-BAC Malaysia is able to deliver MCMA as part of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia’s efforts for our chairmanship year ahead of schedule. A regional carbon market in ASEAN is critical as it will help address the supply side bottleneck through standards alignment within the region. MCMA is a critical pathway to that vision.”
Mr Lim Chern Yuan, Council Member of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia and Chairman of the ASEAN Carbon Market priority shared, “It is our hope that carbon market associations across the region will unite in offering vital industry insights for the successful establishment of the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework to unlock the full technical potential of high-quality carbon projects for the ASEAN region.”
MCMA is led by President Dr Renard Siew, who is also the Head of Corporate Sustainability of Yinson Holdings Berhad.
