Plenary Session 2: From ASEAN to ASEAN: Enhancing Intra-Regional Trade and Investment

ABIS 2024 continued on day 2, with Chairman Tan Sri Nazir Razak as one of the speakers for the 2nd Plenary session with the topic of “From ASEAN to ASEAN: Enhancing Intra-Regional Trade and Investment”. The session was moderated by Richard Bolwijn, Head of Investment Research, Division on Investment and Enterprise of the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

In his part, Tan Sri Nazir highlighted the importance of boosting intra-ASEAN trade and investments within the region. One of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia’s initiatives for next year is the ASEAN Business Entity (ABE), which aims to offer preferential benefits to ASEAN-active companies. By having this new classification of companies, the ABE could enhance competitiveness in both regional and global markets, fostering a more integrated and resilient business environment.

Other panel speakers include the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) His Excellency Satvinder Singh, President Director of Indika Energy Arsjad Rasjid, Chief Asia Pacific of the International Trade Centre Sylvie Bétemps Cochin, and Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Structured Finance, Asia Pacific Commercial Banking of HSBC David Harrity.
