Dato’ John Chong Eng Chuan is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Banking, a position he assumed on 1 March 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, and is a Chartered Banker accredited by the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers. Dato John Chong further honed his leadership skills through the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

With over three decades of regional financial services experience, Dato John Chong brings a wealth of expertise spanning consumer, commercial, wealth management, and investment banking sectors. Prior to his current role, he served as the CEO of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank Investment Banking Group from January 2014 to September 2018. Subsequently, he assumed the position of Group CEO of Community Financial Services from October 2018 to February 2024.

In addition to his executive roles, Dato John Chong holds directorships in various entities within the Maybank Group and other public companies. He serves as a director in Maybank Trustee Berhad, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank, and Maybank (Cambodia) PLC.
